"IF YOU LISTEN TO YOUR BODY WHEN IT WHISPERS, YOU WON'T HAVE TO HEAR IT SCREAM"
I am a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and enjoy furthering my knowledge about the human anatomy and how it works. I have always had an interest in massage as it has helped me recover from sporting injuries in the past.
My vision is to get people out of pain and back to good health as soon a possible. I feel that massage plays a vital role in the rehabilitation of damaged muscles and joint mobility. Massage is an effective form of treatment for clients recovering from sporting injuries, posture correction and overall health.
REMEDIAL MASSAGE TREATMENT
Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management. If a patient has suffered a moderate injury resulting in structural pain and/or loss of function, then remediation is required to reduce or eliminate pain and restore that function. Remedial massage is designed to balance muscle/soft tissue length, tension, tone which will in turn promote the return to normal joint/capsular/bone position; increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas, thus removing blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions resulting from injury.
During assessment the therapist will look at the client’s posture to check for muscle or structural imbalance.
Therapist applies firm pressure to the area and moves the tissue to the point of restriction and holds the pressure until the tissue releases and the movement continues.
Therapist moves joint to full range of motion, then asks the client to resist the movement with 20% effort and hold for 10 seconds.
Firm pressure is applied using thumbs, elbows or forearms to get deep into the muscles.
Therapist locates the trigger point and applies pressure directly to the points within the client’s pain threshold until the muscle relaxes.
Passive and active joint movements are performed by the therapist to stretch the connective tissue and increase range of motion.
"I took my 13 year old son to see Michael after he hurt his back in trampolining training session. Michael provided a remedial massage treatment plan that ensured my son felt comfortable with the pressure and was able to help alleviate tight and painful muscles., whilst working on strengthening muscle. Michael also encouraged valuable home care advice which my son gratefully listened to and followed up at home doing these exercises. My son came away feeling so much better and quickly returned to his trampolining! I would highly recommend Michael as he has great technical skills and disarming manner!"
We had Michael come and see my husband as he had injured his back to the point he couldn't get out of bed. Michael came and worked his magic. That night my husband was more mobile. 3 sessions later he us walking and has more movement. Thanks Michael
